Types of Oil Tanks
There are 2 main types of oil tank we fit: single skin and double skin (bunded) oil tanks. Most of the oil tanks we fit are single skin, however in certain instances a double skin or bunded oil tank is required by law.
Double Skin (Bunded) Oil Tanks
A bunded oil tank can simply be thought of as a tank within a tank. This oil tank is considerably more expensive - think twice the tank, twice the price, but offers a secure & safe form of oil storage. In certain instances these tanks are mandatory i.e., if near a stream or river, and if storing fuel in a commercial setting.
Bunded or single skin?
The two main types of oil tanks available in the Northern Ireland market are single skin or bunded (double skin). Single skin tanks are what most oil tanks are currently in Northern Ireland. Bunded tanks can be thought of as a tank within a tank - twice the tank but twice the price.
Over 95% of oil tanks we fit remain single skin oil tanks. However during the consultation process we will advise better on either option.
